PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Contactor and Steelwork supplier recognised the significant constraints of possession and isolation periods during the tender process for the Haymarket Station Capacity works.  Their response to these challenges was developing a carefully sequenced construction plan that fully utilised the limited lands available – taking advantage of areas which could be constructed later in the programme. They then developed a modular approach to the construction of the access bridge building structures employing the use of large cranes to lift the elements, piece large, into position.

Judge's comment:

This is a clear example of construction expertise that solves a particularly difficult and challenging delivery problem. It was evident to the judges that a high degree of planning and team work had been developed on the project.
